Welcome!

I am a digital humanist with a background in literary studies.  My research focuses on the poetry of the very long eighteenth century, especially the formation of Romanticism in Britain, Europe, and beyond. I am the editor of two peer-reviewed open access digital archives.

Thomas Gray Archive (TGA)

The peer-reviewed Thomas Gray Archive (TGA) was founded in 2000 and is devoted to eighteenth-century poet, letter-writer, and scholar Thomas Gray (1716-1771), author of the acclaimed “Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard” (1751).  It hosts full-text searchable editions of Gray’s poetry, prose, and letters, as well as a complete finding aid of Gray MSS, annual bibliography, facsimile editions, and an increasing number of digital literary tools.

Eighteenth-Century Poetry Archive (ECPA)

The Eighteenth-Century Poetry Archive (ECPA) is a peer-reviewed and award-winning digital archive and research project devoted to the poetry of the long eighteenth century. First published in 2015, it builds on the electronic texts created by the Text Creation Partnership from Gale’s Eighteenth Century Collections Online (ECCO).  ECPA is a full-text searchable edition of 18th-century poetry with a comprehensive set of digital tools intended to augment the close reading process of these poems.

Romantic-Period Poetry Archive (RPPA)

I am currently working on an exciting new project:  a digital platform for the study of global Romantic period poetry, or RPPA /ræpə/ for short.  Read more about the project on the project website, which includes an open invitation to anyone with an interest in the literature of the period in any discipline to collaborate. Please do not hesitate to reach out:
